So much I don’t know….even at 73. I appreciate another door to new literature, history, and awe at what these talented people gave to us being opened. I will step through with delight.
Every time I visited the Asticou Inn for dinner I mentioned at the desk the absence of any mention of their most famous guest, Willa Cather (who summered at the Inn during the WWII years when travel to her summer home in Canada was restricted). But Cather never was given any recognition by the Inn, in it's promotional literature or lobby wall hangings. I hope that the reincarnation of the Asticou will acknowledge Cather's visits.
Great article! Thanks! I read Wella Cather’s. “My Antonia” 3 years ago in my class of American Novels

This was a wonderful article! Who knew? (Not I - but I'm so glad to know now.)
Bravo Lincoln. This was wonderful.

What a great article! Marguerite Yourcenar and Grace Frick did travel a lot winters, but Petite Plaisance was their year-round home.
