Well, it's Maine, Lincoln, so you do have to make allowances!

I am no wiz kid at math but I suspect you made a miscalculation when you categorized the Smallidge Point crowd as belong to the 0.5 percent club. I suspect that many of them belong to the 0.000000005 percent club. And if you think being a journalist got you the cold shoulder from one of them you ought to try mowing their lawns! The new American autocracy owes nothing to ole Marie Antoinette. A good friend of mine worked as a Secret Service agent guarding Presidents and their families at the White House for many years and he told me that during the Clinton administration their orders were to step into a side room if they saw Hillary approaching because she "didn't want to see them." Oh well, we know how things ended for ole Marie..."Let them sail Hinckleys!"

Your man Petterffy is not exactly hurting. In 2019 he bought the entire 11th floor as an apartment in 810 Fifth Avenue, fronting Central Park, in Manhattan. The co-op Board will not approve financing, so he wrote the check for the $22 million, no strain when your net worth is (at that time) $16 billion. The market surge seems to have rewarded him nicely, now up to $25 Billion. Helping build six units for the plebians seems easy enough. Meanwhile, Lynn Wright seems to flit about in the Billionaire's palace down in Boca, so not much of the refugee plight on that front. Looks like the rest of the billionaires squatting along Smallidge Point Road can rest easy, although I rather doubt they will. Those folks have this deeply ingrained sense of entitlement; looking down the nose at the ordinary folks that do the grunt work of society. Disdain comes naturally to that crowd.

Here is a thought to ponder: any one of these folks can build all the affordable housing the entire island needs, and not even miss it; the costs would be no more than a rounding error on their balance sheets. But they don't.

If Mr Rales is so concerned about year round housing, why isn’t he gobbling up Hènri Agnese property in town, or several smaller houses around town. Because he DOES NOT CARE about our town or our people. This is not difficult to understand. He wants a tax break and a way to house his staff. God forbid they should live on his property.

I love your descriptive words like, intemperance, localrati, cynosure, glitterati, differentiators and internecine contretemps.

Thanks for the alewife numbers. I was wondering why they seemed low this year with such excellent stream flow.
