Lincoln, Is this how low we've come down to " guilt by association "? I have liberal friends and conservative friends. Is that not how we learn from each other. I'm disappointed in this article.

Nobody is writing a six-figure cheque to the Board of the MRC just for the privilege of "talking" unless there is the scent of big-bucks speculator returns hanging off the tree branches, ready to be scarfed off. And that tells you that the Payor, the hedge fund involved, is planning hefty "tipping fees" to the participating towns for bringing the garbage in. So the money comes, not from the "resale" of the recyclables, but from the towns themselves for bringing the raw material in.

Whoever takes on this MRC project, unless they are skilled at developing new markets for the product output, is going to have the participating towns by the throat - either you pay, or you can eat your garbage. And I don't picture these guys as marketers. Can the new players sort the single-stream and ultimately dispose of the garbage? Probably. Just be sure to bring your fat chequebook, from now to the end of time. Cheers to all.
