Video of campground hearing in Tremont available for viewing
TREMONT - April 29, 2021 - It took almost 24 hours to upload, but the 3.5-hour meeting Tuesday night to air the application from Acadia Wilderness Lodge may be viewed by the public here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POIzAFAmvxo
The meeting was interrupted for about 20 minutes when the Zoom room exceeded the 100-person capacity. The town had sought to increase the space to 500, but a computer glitch took time to correct.
Town Manager Christopher Saunders began to upload the large file Wednesday morning and it took an entire day.
The zoom capacity issue affected the town of Mount Desert’s planning board earlier this year, as one board member could not attend at the start.
MDI towns have different policies for online, public meetings. Bar Harbor is by far the most transparent, followed by Tremont. Bar Harbor has multiple ways for the public to attend - Zoom, Spectrum Cable and a service called Town Hall Streams, which archives the meeting for public viewing instantly.
Saunders uploads Tremont meetings himself. But all the meetings are available, usually the morning after.
Mount Desert uploads its meeting on YouTube but is months behind on some boards. SWH does not make its meetings available for viewing after they have been conducted.
QSJ is appearing before the MD select board May 11 to urge the town to archive meetings online more readily.
