Tremont citizens group to hold forum on land use Thursday at 6 on Zoom
TREMONT, Jan. 5, 2022 - Landscape architect Terrence J. DeWan is the speaker at the citizens forum Thursday at 6 p.m. to begin the process of drafting proposed changes to the town’s outdated land-use ordinance.
Terry DeWan has more than 40 years of professional experience in landscape architecture, visual resource assessment, site planning, design guidelines, and community development. His experience includes work with communities, state agencies, private developers, utility companies, and the forest products industry in New England. He has written numerous studies on community planning, visual impacts, recreation planning, water access, and highway corridor redevelopment.
DeWan, who practices out of Yarmouth, said he plans to use Zoom’s polling tool tonight to allow participants to answer 10 questions about land use.
DeWan was hired by Concerned Tremont Residents to draft ordinance changes after CTR won a huge victory Nov. 2 to enact a moratorium on campground development. That moratorium expires Jan. 29 and CTR has sought a six-month extension from the select board, which will meet Jan. 24.
“At this forum there will be opportunities to participate and provide input on what your vision is for changes to the Land Use Ordinance in regard to campground and transient lodging development,” said chief organizer Cindy Lawson.
