BAR HARBOR, Dec. 23, 2024 - Several readers of my article from yesterday asked for video of the June 6, 2023 town meeting during which the vice president of conservation for Friends of Acadia spoke passionately in support of taxpayer funds for the Chamber of Commerce to serve visitors “regardless of the mode of transportation that people take to get here.”
That’s a line used by businesses suing the citizens who voted to limit the number of cruise ship passengers disembarking in Bar Harbor.
The FOA VP was a member of the chamber board which voted to join Association to Preserve and Protect Local Livelihoods, plaintiffs in the lawsuit who have appealed a lower court ruling upholding the cap to the federal circuit court in Boston.
Here is the video, starting at 1:52.35 into the meeting.
The crying was over the top
Thank you again, Lincoln, for your outstanding coverage of this almost incredible account of unspeakable maneuvering.
