Campground opponents flex muscle in Tremont selectmen vote; Campbell, Mansolilli defeated
TREMONT - May 5, 2021 - The anti-campground forces won big in Tuesday’s election.
They rallied behind candidates who they thought were most likely to oppose Acadia Wilderness Lodge’s application for a 152-site campground in West Tremont.
Kevin Buck won re-election and Eric Eaton was the top vote-getter, taking the second opening seat from Mike Mansolilli. David “Jed” Campbell, who was on the record favoring the campground, received the fewest votes, 30.
Planning board members Margery Buck and Brett Witham have terms ending this year. The selectmen will decide whom to name to that board which will decide the fate of the proposed campground. Margery Buck is married to Kevin Buck and has recused herself from the campground matter because she is an abutting neighbor.
