Breaking news: Campground opponents win place on ballot; Richard Cohen named to appeals board ...
Somesville - The question of placing a moratorium on campground applications will go to the Nov. 2 ballot to be voted on by voters, it was decided by the select board in a special meeting Monday night. The vote appeared to be unanimous (although the audio of the meeting could not verify member Howdy Goodwin’s vote.)
Goodwin otherwise had a bad night.
He lost his effort to scuttle Richard Cohen’s bid to the appeals board.
The board approved by a 3-2 vote to name Richard Cohen to the appeals board. Jamie Thurlow, Kevin Buck and Eric Eaton voted to approve. McKenzie Jewett and Goodwin voted no.
QSJ emailed both Goodwin and Jewett on why they didn’t want Cohen on the board and got no response.
That was a reversal of the vote Aug. 2 rejecting Cohen with Goodwin, Jewett and Thurlow in opposition and Kevin Buck the lone supporting member. Eric Eaton was absent that meeting.
The moratorium issue faces another important meeting tonight when the planning board meets to decide where the current application is still valid or if a new one is required.
